Colonial Williamsburg Comes to the Mountain
The lack of fireworks did not deter several thousand
people from coming to the Lake Arrowhead Village to attend the
giant community Fourth of July celebration sponsored by the Lake
Arrowhead Village Merchants' Association.
Free pony rides, arts and crafts, various contests,
the Mountain Fifes and Drums and the Robert O'Conner band highlighted
the day. "The Lake Arrowhead Village was happy to pick up
the pieces after the fireworks were cancelled and provide the
community with a great party for the Fourth," said Laurie
McDaniel, property manager for the Lake Arrowhead Village. "The
Village wants everyone to know that we're here for our community
and we're happy to be able to bring special events such as the
Fourth of July celebration, weekend entertainment and locals'
night back," McDaniel further explained.
A special thanks is extended to the Rim High Band
Boosters who manned the beer and wine sales that day. A portion
of those proceeds will be donated to the Band Boosters to help
with their quest of raising $19,000 for new band uniforms.
During the performance of the Robert O'Conner band,
a guest singer was introduced--Lake Arrowhead resident Roseanne
Barr. She entertained the crowd, danced with the children in attendance
and commented on what a great place Lake Arrowhead is in comparison
to other areas of California.
Locals and tourists alike took part in the day and
it was mentioned by many that Lake Arrowhead is the place to be
for holiday celebrations. For upcoming events in the Village,
